Church Pew Refinishing and Restorations - East Boston

30 Nov 2012

Egan's Church Furnishings and Restorations was selected to evaluate the 80 year old pews at the historic St. Lazarus (St. Joseph / St. Lazarus Parish) in East Boston as a phase of the restoration of the St. Lazarus Church.

Egan's was installing a new church floor tile in the nave of the church  and made the recommendation to complete a "light " refinishing of the existing pews.  Light church pew refinishing saves 50% over full refinishing, the pews can stay in the church for weekend services, and a third of the of new church pews.

Our master artist spent over 6 hours inside the church blending stains until he had an exact match to the existing wood stain.  Unlike other companies, Egan's has an experienced team of artist from who select the best colors and color co-ordination on site, including flooring, woodwork, plaster and decorative painting.

By doing church pew refinishing, St. Lazarus church added a fresh clean look to the congregation seating.  Church pew refinishing or new pews will brighten any church and reinforce the commitment to the parish for generations.

Solid Oak Church Pews For St. Malachy Church, Manhattan

16 Nov 2012

Posted by Joseph Coupal

Father Richard Baker at St. Malachy Church in Manhattan had contacted Egan’s Church Furnishings and Restorations to assist him with the renovation of his church.  As part of this renovation, he wanted to improve the comfort of his church pews and improve the "sight lines" to the altar.

We met with him numerous times and worked out a new floor plan design that included our most comfortable, all solid oak church pews.   This included a contoured seat that adds significant comfort and also has the durability of solid oak.

To help his parishioners to better to see the altar area for various services in the church, Egan’s recommended using "mitered pews" which would eliminate most of the "obstructed view seats" which parishioners had complained about.  The angle of the pews was chosen individually in order to work around the large support columns which had caused the obstructed views.

Father Baker commented "the parishioners are quite impressed with how much more comfortable the new pews are."

For the greatest durability, Egan's Church Furnishings and Restorations features all solid oak construction for our church pews.  No veneer finishes.  No particleboard.   All Solid oak construction is recommended by the AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) as the best choice in materials.

Free onsite consultations and quotes provided.  Free assistance with floor plan layouts are also available.

New Church Pews and Pew Upholstery Changes Sutton, MA Church

14 Sep 2012

Posted by Joseph Coupal

Pastor Rev. Michael DiGeronimo, St. Mark's Catholic Church in Sutton MA, called Egan's Church Furnishings to review options for church pew repairs.

The original colonial style church pews were 30 years old and needed restoration, the pew seat and back were delaminating.  15 years ago St. Mark's purchased new church pews for the side isles made out of  particleboard construction which didn't match the center isle pews.  These 15 year old church pews were also falling apart.

Unfortunately, veneer pews cannot be refinished, however, Egan’s Church Furnishings offered to upholster the seats and backs to cover the problems and save the parish the cost of new church pews.  Unfortunately, the side isle church pews needed to be replaced

Working with Ratigan-Schottler Church Pew Manufacturer, Egan's prepared a new pew seating design and estimate to replace all the pews with new solid quality wood church pews.  Jim Egan worked closely with the local flooring contractor and the parish to have all new colonial style pews delivered and installed the last week of August, 2012.

Father Mike said the entire parish is very happy with the new church pews by from Egan Church Furnishings and Restorations. He chose Egan’s because he knew we would be on site and he wouldn't have any problems.

Egan's also upholstered the sanctuary seating to match the new church pews. For more information or a quote on new church pews or pew upholstery, contact Egan’s Church Furnishings.

Radius Church Pews for a Feeling of Community in Your Congregation

30 Aug 2012

St. Catherine of Siena Church in Wilmington, DE was interested in new church pews. Deacon Francis Staab and Pastor Fr. John Hynes at St. Catherine were interested in curved church pews which add the feeling of community to the congregation only radius pews offer.

The parish also wished to avoid the problems of delaminating that occurs with veneer pew supports and pew backs offered by other companies.  Veneer pew supports often delaminate from floor cleaning and are near impossible to refinish down the road.

Egan's Church Furnishings and Restorations worked with the design engineers at Ratigan-Schottler on ideas for fabricating an all solid curved pew seat, pew back and solid pew supports with no veneer in the pew construction.  Egan’s then had custom solid 1st and select solid red oak radius (curved) church pews delivered and installed at the renovated St. Catherine of Siena Church.

There was a very tight window for installation of the new pews (5 days) and required Egan’s project management skills to coordinate in person meetings with the parish, the flooring contractor and communicating directly with the Ratigan-Schottler Manufacturing engineers and installation crew.

Egan’s was on site for delivery of the new church pews and did a walk through inspection with Deacon Francis upon installation, “Jim & Bob Egan’s personal service is unmatched in the industry.”
