Ratigan Church Pews and Pew Ends:   Ratigan uses two 1 inch thick “First and Select red oak “ pieces of solid oak, glued together, to form a 2 inch thick pew end.  By using two pieces of top quality oak, the church pew end is guaranteed against warping and ensures the best support for the pew bench.

Our solid oak church pews and church chairs are all contoured for maximum comfort or choose our 3 inch thick upholstered pew cushions instead. We can also provide an all upholstered seat and back for your church.

Ratigan- Schottler does not use any laminates for their church furniture because to ensure that the pews in your church look fantastic for years to come. On church pews, especially on pew ends, laminate is easily damaged from cleaning and maintenance work in the aisles!

Ratigan-Schottler has been producing only the finest quality “all solid oak” church pews for over 72 years. No veneers, no particleboard or other manufactured materials. Only real, top quality solid wood, and the all solid oak is “First and Select”.

The expert craftsmen at Egan’s Church Furnishings and Restorations can work with your architect or parish building committee to create any style church pew to enhance your worship site. We have dozens of standard style pew ends to choose from. We also have a limitless capacity to create a custom look for your church pews just like you see here in the Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore, MD and the Chapel at Salve Regina University  in Rhode Island.

Restore The Historic Altar and Reinvest in Your Church

02 Feb 2012

Egan's Church Furnishings and Restorations was asked by Father John Andrews, to help his parish Our Lady of Lourdes in Wellfleet Ma, to save and repair their historic altar.   This beautifully ornate altar and reredos had been removed from their closed summer chapel and put into the rectory basement, where it was continuing to deteriorate from neglect.

Egan's Church Furnishings brought their team of woodwork experts to the altar repair project. We were able to determine that although the altar had suffered from wood rot caused by water damage, we could save and restore the altar.   We carefully brought the altar to our shop.

Our team hand sanded all parts of the altar.   We then repaired the rotted wood in the base, preserving the original materials and strengthening the wood to be as strong as real wood.   We then prepared the altar for staining.

The altar was stained to match the other church furniture.  Egan's artists then hand painted Mica based gold paint on the ornate trim on the altar.  The wood altar was then sealed in order to add a protective layer to prevent scratches and possible stains.

From sections of the old altar table that were no longer needed, we created and built a new pulpit and baptismal font. See the before and after photos of the church altar to the left here.

Egan's Church Furnishings and Restorations brings a full team of restoration and repair experts to every project.  When repairs or restorations are needed, we have all the products and services to complete your project; contact us for a quote.
